A special celebration of Caritas Day was organized by the Administration Board of Caritas Athens on Saturday, March 30th.
Initially, the Holy Mass was hosted in the Holy Cathedral of St. Dionysious, led by the Honorary Archbishop of the Athens Catholics and President of Caritas Athens, fr. Sevastianos Rossolatos, with the collaboration of the Vice-President & Director of the Organization and parish priest of St. Paul, Piraeus, fr. Ioannis Patsis, the parish priest of St. Dionysious, fr. Tzortzis Altouvas and the Deacon of the Archdiocese, fr. Javier Perez.
In his speech, the Archbishop referred to the different “fruits” that everyone must offer, according to his responsibilities and mission, but also to the “common fruits” that we all have to attribute, such as faith, faithfulness, obedience, generosity, forgiveness, stability, the spirit of poverty and prayer, so that we do not miss the heavenly life.
At the same time, he stressed the absolute necessity of combating the most difficult defect, which we usually do not confess to and that is why we do not repent, and that is complaining, mumbling, resenting for what we are doing, falling into sin!
“Lent, the Archbishop said, is the period that helps us to realize that we live on earth to reach our eternal homeland, for which Christ gave his life on the cross and rose and ascended to heaven to prepare a place for us and he will come again to take us with him so that we are, wherever he is”.
Then a concert of the Children’s Choir of the Inter-cultural Elementary School of Alsoupolis entitled “The Carousel of Love” took place with the conductor Mr Thomas Contogeorgis and with the accompaniment of percussion by Mr. Takis Vassiliou and contrabass by Mr. Alexandros Trampas, in the Amphitheater of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.
