On Thursday, September 27th at St. Andrew’s parish, the successful inauguration of the first Listening and Counseling Center of the parochial Caritas, member of Caritas Athens, took place. The Listening Center will operate with the support of Caritas Athens.
The ceremony was done by father Ioannis Patsis, Vice-Chairman & Director of the Organization. The guests were then addressed by the parish priest, f. Georgios Dagas, and Ms. Aglaia Konstantakopoulou, Head of the Social Services of Caritas Athens, who made a brief presentation of the way and the purpose of the Listening Center’s operation and answered various questions and inquiries from the public.
Ms Martha Koutsogiannouli, Head of the Help Center of Caritas Athens, who was also present at the ceremony, received the updated data which was collected by the volunteers for the operation of the Listening and Counseling Center which is addressed to both parishioners and the public, regardless of religion, nationality, race, sex, etc.
It is a safe space within the parish community, where everyone who has difficulties and concerns (in practice, of bureaucratic and / or psychological dimensions) in his or her life can be addressed to find help and support.
The Hearing Center moderators receive and listen carefully to each person, making them feel comfortable to share the subject matter. Then they undertake to direct it responsibly towards the right service / process, according to their request and support it throughout this course.
The Listening Center is co-ordinated by seven parish volunteers, appropriately trained and supervised by the scientific staff of the Help Center of Caritas Athens in direct and close cooperation with the parish priest.
