The World Migrants and Refugees Day - September 24, 2023

The World Migrants and Refugees Day brings us ever closer to empathy and charity, the core of humanity and the sacred duty to support those in need. We at Caritas Athens (CA), honor this great day and through the programs we implement, and come close to the inspiring message of the Holy Father. 

CA Integration Learning Center (ILC) Educator of Greek language and soft skills for adults, of Helios Project, organized a conversational café on the occasion of the 109th International Day of Migrants and Refugees. After the message of 2023 was read to the participants “Free to choose whether to migrate or to stay” they were asked to comment on it.  Finally, the participants were asked to contribute to the creation of a Padlet with the broader theme "Reality and difficulties of immigration and how you deal with them".

With our young students, we got to know the phenomenon of immigration better, we thought about the factors that cause and amplify it, but also the importance of always having someone who will extend their hand to support you. Through age-appropriate videos, as well as recreational activities, our children created their own collage, sending them their own message, making us proud to support children and families with developed humanitarian reflexes.
