EVENT TO CUT ΤΗΕ VASSILOPITA CAKE IN “HOLY CROSS” RETIREMENT HOUSE
In a festive atmosphere Caritas Athens organized its annually held event to cut the vassilopita cake, on Tuesday January 16, for the ladies accommodated in the Retirement House “Holy Cross” at Aghia Paraskevi!
The festive atmosphere was further accentuated by live music, songs, dancing, food, gifts and plenty of cheerfulness by all attendees!
The joyful event was attended by the former Athens Catholic Archbishop, Fr. Nikolaos Foskolos who cut the cake, as well as the members of the Organization’s Board Ms. Helen Carabott (Communication, Public Relations and Third Age Officer) and Mr. Stanislaos Stouraitis (Treasurer), the Board’s ex member Ms. Maria Miliari, Caritas Athens’ member Ms. Marie-Thérèse Dilveroglou, the member of Tinos’ Municipal Council, Ms. Irini Vidali, relatives of the residents and the retirement’s house staff.
The new year’s lucky one who found the coin received a symbolic gift, while she danced in the rhythm of well-known melodies interpreted by Mr. Francesco in his accordion, uplifting the other ladies who participated vigorously in singing!
On this occasion, -a pleasant yet short break for its residents from their endless hours of loneliness- Caritas Athens would like to urge anyone sensitive to this age group of our fellow human beings, who has the time and energy, to visit our Archdiocese’s two retirement houses (“Holy Cross” and “Good Samaritan”), offering those people good company that they need more than anything!
