“PITA” CUTTING AT THE “HOLY CROSS” RETIREMENT HOME
The cutting of New Year’s “pita” (cake) in a festive atmosphere with live music, songs, snacks and gifts was held on Wednesday, January 18 at the “Holy Cross” retirement home in Agia Paraskevi.
The Vice-Chairman and Director of Caritas Athens, Fr. Ioannis Patsis, the members of the Administration Board Ms. Helen Carabott (Communication-Public Relations Officer and Third Age Officer) and Ms. Nikoletta Delatola (“I love and I offer” Project Manager), the former member of the Administration Board Ms. Maria Miliari, as well as volunteers from several parochial Caritas organizations, who kept company to the 21 ladies and helped at the event, which was a happy, if short, intermission from the endless hours of loneliness.
The composer, lyricist, and performer Christos Thessalonikeus offered moments of nostalgia to the elderly women with the songs he performed on his guitar, capturing their interest and so they also participated actively in the 2-hour music event.
At this point, we would like to encourage all of you who are sensitive towards that age group of our fellow humans, have the time and notion to visit the two elderly care homes of our Archdiocese (“Holy Cross” and “Good Samaritan”), keeping some company to the residents who really need it!
