VISIT TO SNFCC, ATTICA ZOOLOGICAL PARC & BOTANICAL GARDEN
Caritas Athens organized various visits, in the framework of the training activities for the beneficiaries of the Shelters.
At the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, the visitors had the opportunity to admire the park, a welcoming and open space, specially designed with vegetation which reflects the Mediterranean landscape and they enjoyed themselves doing kayak at the canal. Coming into contact with water was a unique experience both for children and adults!
At the Attica Zoological Park, they were toured in that special area with the third largest bird collection in the world, they enjoyed the dolphin show and were fascinated by the wild animals, the reptiles, the Greek fauna, and the African savanna, while they were informed about the endangered species, due to the massive increase of the human population worldwide, which has had major repercussions on the natural resources, the environment and all wild species of plants and animals.
Finally, touring the Botanical Garden of the Ioulia and Alexandros N. Diomedes Public Benefit Foundation enchanted the visitors with its abundant vegetation, which includes more than 500 species, with its well-preserved and extraordinary beauties, as well as with its numerous well-preserved paths.
The Botanical Garden, with a total surface of 1,860,000 m2, is located in Haidari, 8 km from downtown Athens, on the north slope of Mount Egaleo and entrance to the public is on 401, Iera Odos Street.
